Janet S. Howe, M.D.

Dr. Janet Howe is a board-certified pediatrician that has been in practice at Children & Adolescent Clinic in Hastings, NE for the past thirty years. Her extensive experience in primary pediatrics and adolescent medicine over the years has given her many opportunities to see first-hand how mental health and behavioural issues impact children and their families. Dr.Howe is a graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and did her pediatric residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Nikki Pfeil, PA-C

Nikki grew up in the area and is very passionate about children’s health care. She graduated from University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2001. She completed various Clinical internships during her training and education that final lead her to us. With over 15 years of experience in Pediatric care at the Children & Adolescent Clinic, Nikki is a valued and respected member of the physician’s team. In her spare time, she is kept busy with a husband and four kids. She also loves to bake, read, garden and travel.

Noelle Sherrets-Ratigan, D.O.

Dr. Sherrets-Ratigan grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008. She completed an Osteopathic Manipulation Fellowship in 2007 and then went on to complete a Pediatrics Residency at University of Nebraska, Creighton and Childrens in Omaha, Nebraska in 2011. She has worked for the Children & Adolescent Clinic since 2011. Dr. Sherrets-Ratigan specializes in Pediatrics from infancy to young adults. She also specializes in Osteopathic Manipulation which can be used to treat musculoskeletal complaints as well as many other chronic and acute conditions. When she is not at the clinic or the hospital, her husband and two sons keep her very busy.

Kristen Johnson, M.D.

Pediatricians are specialists who have three years of training beyond a medical degree to prepare them in caring for health care needs of infants, children and adolescents to college age. Our experienced and caring staff can answer many of your questions on topics such as growth and development, breastfeeding, school problems, nutrition, feeding problems and parenting.

Andria Head, PA-C

Andria has been an integral part of the Children & Adolescent Clinic team since 2007. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2000 from Simpson College in Iowa, Andria went on to graduate with a second degree in Bachelor of Science, Physician Assistant Studies at Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center, Iowa in 2003.

Andria enjoys spending time with family and their long list of activities. She is married, with two daughters and lives in Hastings.

Daniel Leonard, D.O.

Dr Daniel Leonard has been with Children & Adolescent Clinic since 2011 and is crucial team member at both the clinic and Mary Lanning Healthcare Hospital.  Completing his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at A.T. Still University in Kirksville Missouri, Dr. Leonard then went on to complete a Pediatric Residency at the University of South Florida, Tampa.  Dr. Leonard maintains an academic position with Omaha Childrens Hospital and University of Nebraska school of medicine to train future physicians.  Is his spare time, Dr Leonard likes to keep fit and active and is regular at Crossfit tournaments across the country, as well as running around with his ever-growing herd of Hereford cattle.

Shade R. Whalen, M.D.

Dr.Whalen grew up in the central Nebraska area. He went to Drake University and then onto UNMC (University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha) where he graduated with a M.D. in 2003. Completed a Pediatric Residency at UAB (University of Alabama, Birmingham) between 2003 – 2006. Dr. Whalen is a Board Certified Pediatrician and member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He has worked for Children & Adolescent Clinic for over 10 years and has a special interest in Neonatology and special needs children.

Andrea Clement, PA-C

When children reach about age 12 (or take their seventh grade physical), they develop a new relationship with their health care provider. This means adolescents have the opportunity to be examined and counseled alone to discuss any concerns. Your teenager has special needs and may want advice on issues including body changes of puberty, growth and hygiene, menstruation, acne, nutrition, exercise or transitions to high school and college.

Julie Shaw, PA-C

Julie attended undergrad at Hastings College. She received her Bachelor of Science in Radiography from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1998.  Upon completion of that program, she entered the UNMC Physician Assistant Program and graduated in 2001 with her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies and became board certified with a special emphasis in surgery.  Julie then worked for 12 years as an Orthopedic PA before joining Children & Adolescent Clinic in May 2013.

Julie and her husband Brian, live in Fairfield where she grew up, with their four sons, Josh, Ethan, Christian, Charlie and daughter Delaney.

Julie’s interests include spending time with her children and family, coaching basketball and running her kids to all of their school, scouts, church and athletic activities.

April Rostvet, PA-C

April, a Hastings native, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in General Biology from Concordia University in 2012. She attended Union College in Lincoln, NE where she received a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies in 2016. She has always had a passion for medicine, especially in the pediatric population. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and Great Dane mix Ruby.
